Where to Ask About Rockingham Records
Choose the office by the record and court level. Rockingham County has no complete public active-warrant list, and the Sheriff’s Most Wanted notice is only a selected program.
- Circuit criminal files: contact the Circuit Clerk at 80 Court Square or call 540-564-3111. The Criminal Division is listed at 540-564-3115 and 540-564-3116.
- Adult traffic and misdemeanors: contact the shared Harrisonburg-Rockingham General District Court at 53 Court Square, Room 132, 540-564-3130. Published clerk hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Agency records or service work: call the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office at 540-564-3800. This is not a universal public warrant hotline.
- Records requests: use the County’s Virginia FOIA page for county-held records; ask the Sheriff’s Office for its own FOIA process.
- JDR or magistrate matters: use the court or District 26 magistrate route shown in the official court directory; juvenile records have legal access limits.
- Legal advice or resolution: talk to a Virginia attorney and the issuing court about the case-specific procedure.
The Circuit Clerk’s old courthouse office is on the first floor, with the public entrance on the east side and a Sheriff security checkpoint. Check official office pages for current entry rules before visiting.
